Video: 2018 Interviews
More on-camera interviews with MLC students by Paty Baum, at the 50th celebration
In 2003, alumna Paty Baum, having made her name as a documentary filmmaker, decided to turn her camera toward MLC students and founding teachers, to interview them and create a short documentary about the school.
In 2018, with students from six decades gathering for the 50th Anniversary celebration, Paty and event organizers took advantage of the chance to do more interviews (and position a hallway camera to record comings and goings).
In a more formal setting than in 2003, lights and cameras set up in a classroom off the lower western hall (long ago Couch school's vocal music room), armed with interview prompts, Paty and an assistant recorded nine more interviews, additional valuable contributions to MLC's history.
Here are Eileen Brokaw (1974-78), Evan Burton (1972-77), Nico Wind Cordova (1970-73), Timothy Hill (1968-76), Paula Hunt (1969-75), Tim Hunt (1968-72), Rima (Akin) Little (1968-81), Sam Lowry (1968-74), and Libby Shapiro (1969-75), talking about early experiences at MLC, parents and siblings, transitions from and into other schools, remarkable careers, and, always, ways in which our unusual school influenced their lives. May there be more such fascinating interviews in future.
