Shaw Stories from Rima (Akin) Little, Tracy (Hatten) Neuhauser, Andy Oakland, and Ricia (Smith) Parcher

I GOT TO GO TWICE ... I think ... my memories are amazing ... I have a lot of them ... rushing me to Friday Harbor for a shot 'cause of a rusty nail ... staying at the Empress Hotel ... the tug boat with the really big brass thing ... I don't know what it's called ... the horse that got out and ran across my tent while I was in it ... the beach glass that was treasure to me and I hid it.
— Rima Little, 2025
I remember getting bit by Rosehips the pig. She wanted my popsicle. Then they made a new bracelet badge for me. Still have a mark from that bite.
— Tracy Neuhauser, 2025
When I got home, my mom was amazed how tan I'd gotten. Turns out I just hadn't bathed in a week.
— Andy Oakland, 2025
I never went to Shaw Island on one of those regular trips. I went later on with the teacher Abe. My best memory there was swimming in the night and seeing all the phosphorescent jellyfish. I think it was a little scary too. We needed to stay away from them because I believe they could sting us.
— Ricia Parcher, 2025
