Two 1970s Slide Shows
A trove of images and portraits from Jon Nelson and Chris Kliks

HERE ARE two precious slideshows, eleven and three-and-a-half minutes long, featuring dozens of vivid images of students and staff from the 1970s.
The first was prepared by Jon Nelson for the June 1980 graduation, which coincided with his departure from MLC after teaching with us for seven years. It is his farewell message, featuring images from his music groups and field trips, and it includes backing music and his voiceover.
Jon posted it to Facebook in March 2012, commenting, "Sorry so many photos of [mine] in there—I guess that happens when you make the slideshow. Chris Kliks also did a lot of photos."
As it happens, the second slideshow is by Chris Kliks, who was known to all in the 1970s, is still known and revered by many, and who over the years probably took more MLC photographs than anyone else.
Chris posted his slideshow in December, 2012, with the comment, "From the vast Archives within my not so temperature controlled hobbit hole under Storage Unit 534-C, this holiday video is offered .... Photos by [me], Tim Renner, Jon Nelson, Barbara Stross, Emily Spray, Jacob Pander, Arnold Pander, Will Spray, and God knows who else."
Early in 2024 Chris posted, "Thinking of all of you for some reason tonight. I am so grateful to have met and known all of you going back the many years. I had no idea what a huge influence being a part of the MLC Community would come to mean. Many people never get such an opportunity~we all hit the jackpot when we came here! Just so you know I’m working on a short but energetic multi-projector slide show that will be available online that’s full of shots from the 70’s-90’s ...."
We hope to see it and link to it here!
In 2023, "@JD-vz2jg" commented on Jon Nelson's slideshow, on YouTube, "I stumbled across this. What great memories. That's me at the 4:03 mark. The Hulk! So much fun."
