New principal for Fall 2025

WITH THE NOTICE reprinted below, Portland Public Schools announced on July 22 that Dr. Ashlee Hudson had been selected as MLC's 15th principal. We welcome her!

Sierra Stringfield Perryman of MLC's PTSA let the MLC community know on Facebook that day.

It is not clear what resulted in the departure of Dr. Hudson's predecessor, principal Suezann Kitchens, who started in 2022 (see further below). We wish her well.

Ashlee being MLC's fifth principal in ten years, MLC activists and advocates have expressed strong hope that she will be someone who truly understands MLC, and will stay for a while.

All who have not yet met Ashlee will have the chance at MLC History Night on October 23rd!
